Item A importância dos programas de educação e motivação para saúde bucal nas escolas(Universidade Brasil, 2022) Silva, Laíza Ferreira; Rossi, Roberta Mirandola MileItem Apicectomia e curetagem apical: relato de caso.(Universidade Brasil, 2024) Santos, Amanda Ferreira Paulo dos; Ana Claudia Rodrigues da SilvaEndodontic treatment failure can be identified through clinical and radiographic evaluations, with symptoms such as spontaneous pain, sensitivity to palpation, vertical percussion pain, swelling, and the presence of periapical lesions. When these signs are detected, endodontic retreatment is usually the first approach; however, if this option is not feasible, periapical surgery may be recommended. The literature describes several techniques for these cases, including periapical curettage, apicoectomy, surgery with retrograde obturation, and retro-instrumentation with retro-obturation. The aim of this study is to report the case of a 41-year-old female patient who sought dental care due to the emergence of an intraoral fistula. After clinical and radiographic examinations, she was diagnosed with chronic periapical abscess in tooth 12. In the first consultation, a coronal access was performed, and root canal instrumentation was carried out up to the apical third, followed by intracanal medication with Ultracal for 15 days. In the second consultation, the persistence of the fistula led to the re-opening of the canal, re-instrumentation, and substitution of the medication, which remained for 30 days. In the third consultation, the regression of the fistula was noted, and the canal was obturated with Sealapex cement. However, after 30 days, the patient returned with the reappearance of the fistula. Given this scenario, periapical surgery was indicated and scheduled, including apicoectomy of the apical third and curettage of the endodontic lesion. Following the procedure, the patient did not report pain upon apical palpation, sensitivity to vertical percussion, spontaneous pain, or recurrence of the fistula during the 7-month postoperative follow-up. conclusion: When conventional endodontic treatment methods are not applicable or complications occur during the procedure, periapical surgery proves to be an effective alternative to preserve the tooth, restoring health, aesthetics, and function to the patient.Item Interação entre cefaleia e disfunção temporomandibular(Universidade Brasil, 2024) Migliorança, Mariana Scandelai; Arruda, Farid Jamil Silva deItem Determinantes da adesão retenção e estabilidade em próteses totais convencionais(Universidade Brasil, 2024) Costa, César Cezario da; Arruda, Farid Jamil Silva deConventional complete dentures are a widely adopted solution for the rehabilitation of edentulous patients, with the aim of restoring both oral functionality and aesthetics. However, the success of these prostheses is directly linked to their retention and stability, which are essential for the comfort and effectiveness of the treatment. Objectives: The present study aims to analyze and summarize the factors that influence adhesion, retention, and stability in conventional complete dentures, providing evidence-based guidelines that can assist dental professionals in improving clinical practices and, consequently, the quality of life of patients. Material and Methods: An integrative literature review was carried out, focusing on articles published in the last 20 years in databases such as PubMed and Scielo. The search included specific terms related to retention and stability in complete dentures, prioritizing systematic reviews, controlled clinical trials, and cohort studies. The studies were selected and analyzed based on their methodological quality, relevance of the results, and contribution to current knowledge on the subject. Results and Discussion: The analysis of the studies revealed that the retention and stability of complete dentures are influenced by a series of interrelated factors. Among the anatomical factors, the morphological characteristics of the oral cavity, such as the height and shape of the alveolar ridge, stand out, which directly influence the adhesion of the denture. Physiological factors, such as the quality and quantity of saliva and muscle tone, also play a crucial role in retention. Regarding materials, the choice of prosthesis components, including acrylic resin and other materials used, can significantly affect its performance. Conclusion: This study concludes that the retention and stability of conventional complete dentures are the result of a complex interaction between anatomical, physiological and material factors. A personalized approach, which considers the specificities of each patient, is essential to optimize rehabilitation results. The practical application of the evidence discussed can lead to significant improvements in treatments, increasing patient satisfaction and the effectiveness of the dentures.Item Saúde bucal em pacientes com sequelas de acidente vascular cerebral AVC(Universidade Brasil, 2022) Zequim, Francini de Souza; Fernandes, Karina Gonzalez Camara; Moreti, Lucieni Cristina TrovatiItem A utilização de pistas diretas planas no tratamento precoce da mordida cruzada anterior: relato de caso(Universidade Brasil, 2023) Oliveira, Thiago Motta; Rolim , Valéria Cristina Lopes de Barros; Souza , José Antonio SantosAnterior crossbite is a change in the buccolingual relationship between the upper and lower incisors, in which all incisors or just one upper incisor occludes on the lingual surface of the lower incisors. When this occlusopathy is diagnosed in primary and mixed dentitions, early intervention can be employed with the use of Planas direct track. If early treatment is not carried out, this change can lead to bone changes, therefore requiring the use of orthodontic and/or orthopedic appliances. The objective of the present study was to report a clinical case of anterior crossbite in a pediatric dentistry patient, in which preventive orthodontics was performed using a Planas direct track in order to avoid future problems in bone development, thus improving occlusion. of the patient. Patient R.P.C.V., male, 6 years old, attended the Pediatric Dentistry Clinic of Universidade Brasil, Campus Fernandópolis-SP for dental treatment. During the initial clinical examination, it was noticed that teeth 52, 51, 61 and 62 were occluding on the lingual surface of the lower incisors; In this way, the diagnosis of anterior crossbite was reached. After evaluating the case, it was decided to carry out a direct Planas trail. For this, direct Flat tracks were made with Composite Resin on teeth 52, 51 and 61. It was possible to notice the uncrossing of the anterior crossbite of the patient in question. The patient is being monitored at the Pediatric Dentistry Clinic at Universidade Brasil. The etiology of crossbite is multifactorial. Early interventions, such as the use of the Planas direct track, can promote harmonious development of the stomatognathic system. The technique used in this case has shown good results. This approach is considered a neuro occlusal rehabilitation, since the action occurs in the neural receptor centers that will result in a response to the stomatognathic system, where occlusal interferences will be identified and removed. The advantages of this technique are: low cost and ease of manufacture. It can be concluded that early treatment with Planas direct track is a minimally invasive approach that can be used to correct and prevent future problems. As observed in this case report, this treatment presents a favorable and rapid result and can even be carried out in children who present behavioral difficulties.Item Complicações locais da aplicação de ácido hialurônico e toxina botulínica na harmonização orofacial(Universidade Brasil, 2023-12-08) Alcântara, Kelly Cristiane Fornazari de; Chianezze, Mariane dos Passos; Fabris, André Luís da Silva; Cervantes, Lara Cristina CunhaThe quest for beauty dates to ancient times and today, more and more women and men are in an unbridled quest to present a more youthful appearance. Therefore, several aesthetic procedures have been suggested to reduce the signs of aging, enhancing the patient's beauty. Due to people's greater interest in these procedures, scientific industries have innovated and launched more new products on the market. The most popular area is the face. One of the most sought-after areas is the face and, among the available procedures, the application of hyaluronic acid and botulinum toxin stands out. According to the literature, there are several clinical cases with positive results, but this Literary Review aims to expose possible trans and postoperative complications of these procedures in the orofacial region, gathering information and complications from articles already published on these complications, highlighting It is important that the dentist knows the muscles of the face to carry out the application correctly. To this end, a careful search was carried out on digital platforms: Pudmed, SCielo, and VHL, using the keywords: hyaluronic acid, botulinum toxin, and complications. 83 articles were found in English and Portuguese and 10 that were of interest for the study were selected. Most clinical cases of filling with hyaluronic acid range from the formation of nodules, which can be easily resolved, to tissue necrosis, depending on the region. Regarding the application of botulinum toxin, cases present excessive paralysis in some regions, bilateral asymmetry, and tissue necrosis. Many people seek these treatments without knowing the risks and complications. The dentist must provide guidance and follow care protocols to avoid them.Item Cirurgia parendodôntica: relato de caso(Universidade Brasil, 2023) Oliveira, Nicole Lauer; Bruzadin, Roberto Nascimento; Silva, Ana Claudia Rodrigues daThe failure of endodontic treatment can be confirmed through clinical and radiographic examinations, with the appearance of spontaneous pain, pain on palpation, vertical percussion, edema and the presence of periapical lesions. Given these signs and symptoms, endodontic retreatment is the first choice and when this is not possible, endodontic surgery is indicated. The main indications for surgery are: difficulty in accessing the root canal through the coronary approach, with the presence of a full metal-ceramic crown and intracanal pin, or calcified root canals with periapical lesions, fractured instruments, deviations, apical perforations and steps. Several techniques are described in the literature, including periapical curettage, apicoectomy, surgery with simultaneous retrograde filling, retro instrumentation with retro-filling are the most used. The objective of this work is to present a case report of a 25-year-old patient who sought out Universidade Brasil after the emergence of intraoral edema. The patient had previous root canal treatment and developed an acute periapical abscess after undergoing internal bleaching. In the 1st session, intraoral drainage and coronary opening were performed with the placement of intracanal medication Formocresol for 48 hours. In the 2nd session, during the removal of the filling material, she found a perforation in the middle third of the root. The filling material was removed to the location of the deviation, and Calcium Hydroxide medication was placed for 20 days. In the 3rd session, the canal was filled with Bio-C Repair (Angelus) and an apicoectomy of the apical third and curettage of the endodontic lesion were performed. The patient did not present pain on apical palpation, vertical percussion, spontaneous pain or edema in the postoperative period and in the 15-day follow-up. The patient will continue to be monitored for evaluation of the repair in the periapical region. When traditional methods of endodontic treatment are not viable, or when there are accidents during the intervention, endodontic surgery is an excellent alternative for maintaining the dental element, promoting health and restoring aesthetics and function to the patient.Item Diagnóstico precoce e estratégias de intervenção na HMI (hipomineralização molar incisivo)(Universidade Brasil, 2023-11-21) Delfino, Mayara Oliveira Gomes; Jesus, Samyra Kelly da Cruz; Fernandes , Samuel; Rolim, Valéria Cristina Lopes de BarrosIncisor Molar Hypomineralization is a defect in the development of tooth enamel that affects one to all first permanent molars and may also be present in the incisors. This condition ends up being a significant health problem, as it negatively affects the aesthetics and function of the dental element, thus causing a low quality of life in the child. The objective of this literature review is to review MIH and provide the dentist with pertinent information about clinical characteristics, diagnosis and treatment. An electronic search was carried out in the following databases: Cochrane Library, VHL (virtual health library), Medline, Scielo, searching for terms using the following key words, ``incisor molar hypomineralization´´, ``treatment´´, `` etiology´´, ``clinical diagnosis´´. MIH appears as well-defined opaque spots that can range in color from white to yellow or brown. Diagnosis can be very difficult, especially when caries lesions are present. Affected patients present clinical problems such as tooth wear, enamel loss, fracture, coronary destruction, thus increasing susceptibility to caries and tooth hypersensitivity. Although the exact cause of MIH is not yet well defined, a combination of several factors has been proposed to explain its occurrence, the potential causes are divided into environmental and genetic influences. Through studies, it is noted that prevalence is directly linked to socioeconomic conditions and can vary from 3% to 50% in some population studies. The treatment of MIH will depend on the severity of the affected tooth, ranging from preventive measures to complex restorative procedures. It is concluded that MIH must receive full attention from the dentist and must be treated through a multidisciplinary clinic whenever possible, aiming to offer the patient the correct diagnosis and the best therapeutic option.Item Relato de experiência: missão UNIVIDA - 2023(Universidade Brasil, 2023-11-21) Canato, Amanda Faneco; Paulino, Karol Maciel; Simonato, Luciana Estevam
