Item Caracterização da atividade de suinocultura no estado de Rondônia a partir dos cadastros de explorações pecuárias do órgão executor de sanidade agropecuária(Universidade Brasil, 2024) Azevedo, Ney Carlos Dias de; Mansano, Cleber Fernando Menegasso; Vanzela, Luiz SérgioSwine production is one of the most important Brazilian agroindustry activities, ranking ninth in terms of the agri-food sector products with the highest gross production value in the country, making Brazil the fourth largest producer and exporter of swine meat in the world. Brazilian swine production has a highly diversified reproductive system. As a result, the characterization of swine farming in the state of Rondônia will serve as a tool for public institutions such as the State Department of Agriculture, the Rural Extension Agency, and the Agricultural Defense Agency for the application of public policies with the aim of developing the swine farming production chain in Rondônia. The animal husbandry with swines can be classified regarding the level of technological advancement, in terms of tchnologically advanced and non- technologically advanced. Furthermore, they can also be categorized by production type, with the technologically advanced ones being breeding farms of certified swine breeders, full cycle, piglet production units, nursery and wean-to-finish, and finishing. On the other hand, the non technologically advanced ones can be for local trade or subsistence. Also, regarding the type of market access, the technologically advanced farms are classified as independent, integrated, and cooperative. Thus, the aim of this study was to characterize the swine production activity in the state of Rondônia, analyzing the data from the swine farming registration records of the Agricultural Sanitation Executive Body, which is the IDARON Agency. A quantitative, descriptive research was conducted for this study, through the collection and analysis of data from IDARON’s livestock farming records, involving swine animals. It was observed that the state of Rondônia has a predominantly non-technologically advanced swine herd. Additionally, there was an influx of swine intended for fattening and slaughter, as well as edible pork products, showing a deficit in swine production in the state. It was verified that Rondônia has great potential for the development of its swine farming industry, so it can supply edible swine products to the local consumer market and even to other states in the North region of Brazil.
