Resumo
Sporotrichosis is a dermatozoonosi that is found worldwide, however, it is more prevalent in countries with tropical and subtropical climate in view of public health concern. It is of great importance and it is a zoonotic mycosis by domestic felines in Brazil. It is caused by species of the genus Sporothrix, and in Brazil, Sporothrix brasiliensis. It presents itself as an acute or chronic condition in affected animals, and it is more frequent in domestic cats in humans as well, causing discomfort and skin disorders. This disease is curable, however its treated and long-term through the use of antifungals. Treatment in domestic cats is a great challenge because, in addition to the cost of handling, these are a problem with widespread epidemiology in areas with lack of basic sanitation or humid environments and lack of hygiene, and this disease is a zoonosis, this is transmissible to other animals and especially humans.
