Studies show that about 30% of patients who have left-sided valve endocardiosis also have changes in the valve on the right side, called the tricuspid valve, such changes in valves generate the condition known as congestive heart failure (CHF), known as: ICCE (left congestive heart failure) in cases of mitral endocardiosis, and ICCD (right congestive heart failure) in cases of tricuspid endocardiosis, in general the disease usually has a slow progression, however, it is considered a disease with unpredictable progression, varying from case to case. It is a disease with a higher incidence in small dogs (less than 20 kg), and with a prevalence1.5 times higher in male than female dogs. The objective of this report was to report a case of DMVM in a dog, reporting the approach and protocol used, compared to what determines the 2019 consensus “Guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of myxomatous mitral valve disease in dogs”.Item Esporotricose em gatos domésticos(Universidade Brasil, 2021) Muñoz, Nayra Icka Plata; Silva, Gabriel Bottini daSporotrichosis is a dermatozoonosi that is found worldwide, however, it is more prevalent in countries with tropical and subtropical climate in view of public health concern. It is of great importance and it is a zoonotic mycosis by domestic felines in Brazil. It is caused by species of the genus Sporothrix, and in Brazil, Sporothrix brasiliensis. It presents itself as an acute or chronic condition in affected animals, and it is more frequent in domestic cats in humans as well, causing discomfort and skin disorders. This disease is curable, however its treated and long-term through the use of antifungals. Treatment in domestic cats is a great challenge because, in addition to the cost of handling, these are a problem with widespread epidemiology in areas with lack of basic sanitation or humid environments and lack of hygiene, and this disease is a zoonosis, this is transmissible to other animals and especially humans.Item Métodos de tratamento oncológicos em cães: revisão de literatura(Universidade Brasil, 2021) Gonçalves, Sara Roberta da Silva; Teixeira, Tarso FelipeThe relationship between human beings and animals has been getting closer over the years, a fact that makes the care in relation to nutrition, vaccination schemes, among others, to promote longevity among domestic dogs. Advanced age makes them more exposed to carcinogens, which significantly increases the number of patients with oncological diseases and, therefore, the search for treatments that promote cure, survival and quality for them. This study aimed to review the main cancer treatment options in dogs. The data obtained were collected from searches of publications of relevance to science, through the database of Academic Google, Pubmed, Scielo and specialized books on the subject. The results obtained point to new perspectives that can be concomitantly administered to traditional means already used, in order to bring quality of life and better responses to cancer treatment in dogs. Further research on the subject is suggested, given its relevance to society and the veterinary medicine community.
