It is of great importance and it is a zoonotic mycosis by domestic felines in Brazil. It is caused by species of the genus Sporothrix, and in Brazil, Sporothrix brasiliensis. It presents itself as an acute or chronic condition in affected animals, and it is more frequent in domestic cats in humans as well, causing discomfort and skin disorders. This disease is curable, however its treated and long-term through the use of antifungals.
