The present study aimed to identify the main places of occurrence, understand the causes of inadequate disposal of solid waste on local roads in the Municipality of Fernandópolis – SP and its consequences for the health of the local population. Qualitative research was carried out, with literature review, field research, observation, photographic records and semi-structured interviews with residents and employees of the Municipal Environment Secretariat. It can be concluded that the Municipality of Fernandópolis has a structured Municipal Solid Waste Plan and strict legislation for environmental crimes, requiring the intensification of the Intersecretariat partnership to strengthen the Policy, with greater supervision and dialogue with citizens about the real needs, demands and difficulties of everyday life, with the intention of remedying and/or mitigating inappropriate disposal in these locations.

Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a degenerative joint disease that causes pain, impairment of function and quality of life and is associated with significant economic impact. Ozone therapy (OT) has been suggested in clinical practice as a promising adjuvant therapy to exercise, however evidence is limited for its recommendation. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of OT in combination with an exercise protocol on pain level in women with KOA. Forty volunteers were randomized into 2 groups: Exercise Group (EG): volunteers were submitted to a physical exercise protocol; Ozone Therapy Exercise Group (GEO): volunteers were submitted to a resistance exercise protocol associated with OT. The interventions were performed twice a week for a period of 6 weeks, totaling 12 sessions. The exercise program consisted of warm up, muscle strengthening, and stretching of the main muscle groups of the lower limbs. OT was applied to 5 acupuncture points of the affected knee, through the subcutaneous technique at a concentration of 20 g/ml and with a volume of 2 mL of ozone immediately after each exercise session. For evaluation and reevaluation, the numerical pain scale (NDS) was applied; functionality and quality of life questionnaires (Western Ontario and MacMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index [WOMAC]); functionality (Lequesne); physical performance tests (Timed Up and Go [TUG], Short Physical Performance Battery [SPPB]), lower limb strength and endurance (30-second sit and stand test). The results show that the GE and GEO groups presented lower scores for the level of pain, increased the score of quality of life, functionality, physical performance, strength and resistance compared to the initial values. However, GEO had a lower score for the level of pain, and a higher score for quality of life and functionality when compared to GE. Thus, it can be suggested that OT in association with physical exercise was an effective method in pain control and in the functional recovery and quality of life of patients with KOA.

Efeitos da Fotobiomodulação no processo de cicatrização da lesão por pressão
(Universidade Brasil, 2022) Oliveira, Laricy Rodrigues de; Baptista, Alessandra
Currently, the prevention and treatment of Pressure Ulcer (PU) is the focus of multidisciplinary actions in different health care settings. Photobiomodulation is a form of phototherapy proposed in the treatment of PU, as it is able to modulate the quality and speed of the healing process. The objective of this study was to evaluate the quality of life (QoL) of the individual affected by PU, as well as to evaluate the modulation of the PU healing process, through photobiomodulation. This is a qualitative-quantitative clinical study, in which 10 volunteers with PU participated, treated at home. Participants were randomly divided into two groups, according to the therapeutic intervention: Control Group (n=5); treated with calcium and sodium alginate coating and Photobiomodulation Group (n=5); treated with photobiomodulation, where the PUs received punctual irradiation, 4J/point, on alternate days, with a low power laser emitting at 660 nm, with 100 mW of power, for 40 s. All volunteers in this study received treatment for 4 weeks. Participants QoL was analyzed using the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire, before and after the interventions. The PU healing process was evaluated by the PUSH instrument, on the 1st, 15th and 29th days. The PUs were photographed in a standardized way, on the respective days, to compare the evolution of the repair process. For data analysis, the Shapiro Wilk normality test and the two way ANOVA test of variance were applied, and the means were compared using the Tukey test with a significance of 5%, being considered statistically different when p<0.05. The perception of QoL in the Photobiomodulation Group was regular in the initial phase of treatment, evolving to very good in the final phase, while the volunteers in the Control Group maintained a very good response from the beginning to the end of the treatment. The evaluation using the PUSH instrument showed a gradual temporal improvement in the PU repair process, regardless of the treated group. The comparison of photographic images revealed that there was a reduction in the staging of PUs in both groups. Therefore, we can conclude that photobiomodulation, in the parameters tested in this study, can be a good alternative in relation to QoL and modulation of the PU healing process.

Métodos de tratamento oncológicos em cães: revisão de literatura
(Universidade Brasil, 2021) Gonçalves, Sara Roberta da Silva; Teixeira, Tarso Felipe
The relationship between human beings and animals has been getting closer over the years, a fact that makes the care in relation to nutrition, vaccination schemes, among others, to promote longevity among domestic dogs. Advanced age makes them more exposed to carcinogens, which significantly increases the number of patients with oncological diseases and, therefore, the search for treatments that promote cure, survival and quality for them. This study aimed to review the main cancer treatment options in dogs. The data obtained were collected from searches of publications of relevance to science, through the database of Academic Google, Pubmed, Scielo and specialized books on the subject. The results obtained point to new perspectives that can be concomitantly administered to traditional means already used, in order to bring quality of life and better responses to cancer treatment in dogs. Further research on the subject is suggested, given its relevance to society and the veterinary medicine community.

Avaliação das praças da cidade de Fernandópolis-SP
(Universidade Brasil, 2021) Agustini, Maria Vitória Gabrielli Battilani; Vazquez, Gisele Herbst
The square is one of the most important public spaces in urban structure. In addition to a leisure area, it offers opportunities to socialize, exercise citizenship, promote the environment and increase one’s quality of life. This work aimed to carry out an evaluation in Fernandópolis, SP (Brazil) squares, through the quantiqualitative analysis of the architectural elements, infrastructure, furniture and landscaping, in order to understand the performance of these spaces and to assist in future adjustments in the municipal sphere for the services enhancement provided to the population. Research on historical, bibliographic, photographic documentary and in loco visits were carried out, which enabled the material identification and quantification, and the equipment and vegetation conservation state. It was concluded that most squares lack infrastructure and investments in the conservation and maintenance of their architectural and landscape elements. The 2012 and 2020 analysis indicates that there were no improvements in the period, which is worrying, since the city population has grown and aged, and the squares are important instruments for health and well-being. As for the trees and palms found, 89% are considered exotic, highlighting the need for greater diversification of plant species, including those native from the city.
