    Erliquiose canina: uma revisão teórica
(Universidade Camilo Castelo Branco, 2019) Rodrigues, Marcos César Martins; Soares, Keller Regina
Erlichiosis affects dogs and humans, as well as other domestic animals and some species of wildlife. Canine erlichiosis is a disease resulting from a bacterium of the genus Ehrlichia, obligate intracellular leukocyte and platelet parasites. Transmission of canine erlichiosis can occur due to the participation of a vector, the tick Rhipicephalus sanguineus, or by blood transfusion. Canine erquiliosis is characterized by three stages: acute, subclinical and chronic. These can be difficult to distinguish accurately in practice. The diagnosis of canine erlichiosis will depend on a number of factors, such as: dog's history of stay in endemic areas, evidence of tick infestation, clinical compatibility, application of E. canis specific test. Despite the severe condition to which the disease may evolve, treatment is relatively simple. Generally, one chooses to use antibiotics, especially doxycycline. In addition, blood transfusions may be required in cases of anemia and thrombocytopenia, fluid therapy, gastric and liver protectors.
