Dimensões sociopolítica e ambiental do abastecimento de água: situações de crise na represa Guarapiranga – SP
(Universidade Brasil, 2020) Lopes, Sergio Roberto; Lima, Leonice Domingos dos Santos Cintra
The city of São Paulo has become over time a megalopolis and its environmental problems seem to have increased in the same proportion. Part of the city is supplied by the Guarapiranga dam and the water crises that occur in the municipality, resulting both from the population's lack of environmental awareness and from the inefficiency of public management on the environmental issue, compromise everyone's daily life. This research, which aimed to investigate elements of social and political reality that may be motivating the lack of water for residents supplied by the Guarapiranga dam, contributing to the water crisis and detecting preventive public actions implemented in the municipality. This is documentary research in secondary sources where studies and official documents on the occurrences, the actions proposed and implemented by the concessionaire and the measures proposed by the government were analyzed. The study was carried out with a 10-year time frame (2010 to 2020) but for the purpose of thematic contextualization, the historical rescue of the object of study was carried out. The results show that the population has no information; absence of awareness or environmental education in relation to the water issue, occupying, in a disordered way, the surroundings of the dam; on public power and water crisis management, the research reveals that public power initiatives to protect and preserve the dam have been shown to be inefficient with few significant impact results, most of which are inefficient and ineffective interventions for the preservation supply of drinking water to the population, as well as to prevent the risk of new water crises involving the capacity of the Guarapiranga Dam.
